AN EARLY CASED PAIR OF 36-BORE PERCUSSION OFFICER'S HOLSTER-PISTOLS, no visible serial numbers,
in the duelling style circa 1835, with browned octagonal 8in. barrels, the top-flats signed 'MORTIMER, LONDON', bead fore-sights, standing notch rear-sights, coloured and engraved breech-blocks with inset nipples, border engraved flat bar-action locks of flintlock form signed 'MORTIMER' and with further scroll engraved detail, blued slab-sided and engraved hammers, walnut full-stocks with chequered bag-shaped butts and clip cornered rectangular escutcheons to the wrists blued and engraved trigger-guard bows with pineapple finials, brass tipped mahogany ramrods; together with a period mahogany storage case compartmented and professionally re-lined in green baize and containing an earlier three-way flask by Hawksley, an original scissors ball mould and a number of quality reproduction accessories including a cleaning or loading rod, turnscrew, nipple-key etc.
